Roy L. Jay (Principal)

Roy Jay is president and founder of Roy Jay Development Group and co-founder of IALP. 

In 1987 he was selected as part of the management team for the start-up and launch of Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Georgetown, Kentucky where, as an operations supervisor, he brought on and trained new team members for start-up of first shift and was promoted to assistant manager to start second shift for Plastics Operations.  In 2000 Roy became the operations manager for the plastics molding plant (500,000 sq. ft.) at Georgetown and had overall responsible for safety, quality, productivity, cost and morale for the in-house manufacture of plastics interior and exterior trim.  Roy spent the last six years of his career with Toyota in Georgetown as the manager of the internal consulting team (Toyota Production System Office) where he was responsible for identifying and improving company weaknesses, transferring TPS knowledge to the organization and leading problem solving and Kaizen events.  He also provided accelerated TPS training to high potential participants for future plant leadership.

Roy completed his mechanical engineering degree in 1967 at General Motors Institute as a Mechanical Engineer and developed special skills in tool engineering, production engineering, and product design of thermoplastic, thermosetting plastic; foam, extruded, and molded rubber; and metal products.  He demonstrated the capability to achieve successive levels of leadership to senior project engineer at General Motors.
